MMFF’s Parade of Stars goes fluvial

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 13) — Instead of a motorcade, the Metro Manila Film Festival’s “Parade of Stars” will go fluvial on Dec. 19, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Monday.

Celebrities of the eight entry films will be carried by ferry boats, a first in the film festival.

“The fluvial parade will showcase the ferry service and at the same time encourage the public to ride the agency-operated Pasig River Ferry Service, an alternative transportation across Metro Manila,” said MMDA chairperson Benhur Abalos in a statement.

According to MMDA, the parade will start from Guadalupe Ferry Station and will go straight eastbound before C-5 Bagong Ilog Bridge. It will take U-turn, stop at the Pasig City side, and will make a final stop at Makati Circuit.

Last year’s parade was done virtually due to the pandemic.

This year will also mark the return of the film festival in the cinemas as the national government has eased restrictions.

MMFF will run from Dec. 25 to January 8, 2022.
