Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 19) – Controversial Pharmally Biological Company executive Rose Nono Lin, a congressional aspirant in Quezon City’s 5th district, filed her resignation from political party Lakas-CMD.

The party confirmed on Friday that it accepted Lin’s resignation.

The notice did not state whether Lin will still run under the Malayang Quezon City ticket of mayoralty aspirant and incumbent Anakalusugan Party-list Rep. Mike Defensor and vice mayoralty bet Winnie Castelo.

Among Lin’s opponents for the post are Councilor PM Vargas, brother of incumbent 5th distrct Rep. Alfred Vargas, and former district representative Annie Susano.

Lin is the chief financial officer of Pharmally Biological, which has supposed links to controversial firm Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corporation.

In a letter, Lakas-CMD National Capital Region chairman and Quezon City 1st district Rep. Onyx Crisologo asked the Commission on Elections to revoke the Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance the party issued for Lin’s candidacy

Lin denied in a recent Senate hearing that Pharmally Biological is connected with Pharmally Pharmaceutical.

Lin became controversial after senators questioned her luxury cars and homes. Her claim that she just found in her garage a car reportedly worth ₱8.8 million became the subject of memes and online jokes.

Pharmally Pharmaceutical is the company being investigated by senators for its deal with the Department of Budget and Management’s Procurement Service for the purchase of allegedly overpriced personal protective equipment and testing kits worth ₱8.68 billion.
