In a statement, PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said the amount came from the agency’s regular appropriations in its 2021 budget.

“PNP Finance Service Director, Police Brigadier General Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr said the Year- End Bonus and Cash Gift has been credited to the individual payroll accounts of PNP Personnel with the Land Bank of the Philippines,” the PNP said.

The yearend bonus is equivalent to one-month basic pay. The cash gift is pro-rated at ₱5,000, subject to the guidelines in reference to Fiscal Directive Number 2016-16 “Payment of Year-End Bonus and Cash Gift for FY 2016 and Years Thereafter.”

However, bonuses exceeding ₱90,000 are taxable and will affect a total of 15,587 personnel, the PNP clarified.

“[They] are subject to the year-end tax adjustments effective November and December 2021 pursuant to T.R.A.I.N. Law (Republic Act 10963) and BIR Revenue Regulations 9-2018 and 11-2018, and shall resume the regular monthly tax deduction on January 2022,” it added.

The PNP also noted that the yearend bonus and cash gift of personnel with pending administrative cases will be put on hold.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 18) — The Philippine National Police on Thursday released the ₱8.19 billion yearend bonus and cash gift for 222,418 personnel.
