Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 29) — The Department of Health (DOH) has observed an increase in new COVID-19 cases in nine areas in the National Capital Region.
“There are nine areas in [the] National Capital Region that have a positive seven-day growth rate as of October 28, 2021,” DOH said Friday in a statement.
The department did not name these areas.
But overall, Metro Manila still has a negative COVID-19 case growth rate, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a media forum.
A positive growth rate means infections are increasing while a negative growth indicates that cases are decreasing.
Meanwhile, the region’s average daily attack rate – or the number of infected people per 100,000 population – is still high at 7.4.
Metro Manila will stay under Alert Level 3 until Nov. 14.
Vergeire said the average daily attack rate in NCR must drop to 7 or lower before the region can ease to a lower alert level.
