Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 25) — The bulk of the 400,000 Moderna vaccine vials expiring in November have been “loaned” to the national government, a health official said on Monday.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said 356,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine ordered by the private sector have been lent to the national government. The shots have already been distributed to Calabarzon and Central Luzon.
The official said they were loaned to the government to prevent wastage. New stocks will be given back to the private sector, Vergeire assured.
“Papalitan natin ang doses na iyan kapag kailangan na nila,” she said in a media briefing.
[Translation: We will replace it when they need it.]
Some supplies received by the private sector remain unused because many employees who listed with their companies were vaccinated through the local governments since the vaccines ordered by the national government arrived first.
