
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 18) — The number of areas under granular lockdown across Metro Manila has dropped by 54% in mid-October, an official from the Department of the Interior and Local Government said Monday.
DILG Usec. Jonathan Malaya said as of Oct. 15, only 139 areas in the capital are under granular lockdown, down from 303 areas last Oct. 1.
“Malaki ang pagbaba, consistent ito sa datos natin sa case transmission and increased vaccination sa NCR,” he said during a virtual briefing.
[Translation: There was a significant decrease, consistent with our data on case transmission and increased vaccination in NCR.]
The official said 617 families are currently affected by granular lockdowns.
OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David said Sunday that the COVID-19 situation in the region continues to improve as coronavirus figures remain on a downtrend.
As of Oct. 17, active cases in Metro Manila stood at 16,177.
The pandemic response task force eased COVID restrictions in Metro Manila from Alert Level 4 to Alert Level 3, starting last Saturday to Oct. 31.
