Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 8) — Customers of power distributor Meralco can expect a slight increase in their electric bills this October, the company said on Friday.

This translates to a roughly ₱6 increase in the total bill of a typical household consuming 200 kWh.

The company attributed the increase to higher transmission charge, which jumped ₱0.7085 per kWh from last month’s ₱0.6803 per kWh.

Meralco also said the group will not cut off service to any customers with unpaid bills in Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal and Lucena City in Quezon, which are still under modified enhanced community quarantine, from Oct. 1 to 15.

The suspension of disconnection activities also covers those areas in Metro Manila that are under granular lockdown until Oct. 15.

In a statement, Meralco announced rates slightly went up to ₱9.1374 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) this month from ₱9.1091 per kWh in September.
