Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 20) — The rest of the country will not be experiencing the COVID-19 alert level system next month just yet, Malacañang said on Monday.

“Ito ay pilot pa lang po. Hindi pa po ito mai-implement on a nationwide basis pagdating po ng Oktubre,” Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said during his regular briefing. “Pina-pilot pa lang po natin ito.”

The system, which spans five levels and heavily uses localized lockdowns in place of community-wide quarantine measures, is currently being piloted in Metro Manila. The entire region is under Alert Level 4 until the end of September.

Roque, who also serves as spokesman of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, said they have not received any “negative reports” yet from the approximately 170 areas under granular lockdowns in the capital region.
