Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 20) — Senator Cynthia Villar remained the richest among her colleagues in the upper chamber based on lawmakers’ latest Statements of Assets and Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN).
As of December 2020, Villar’s net worth was ₱3.87 billion. This reflects a ₱61.6 million increase from her 2019 net worth of ₱3,814,091,438.
Villar, who is on her second term in the Senate, is the wife of real estate magnate and former Sen. Manny Villar — the country’s second richest according to Forbes magazine’s list of the Philippines’ 50 Richest as of September 2021.
Boxing icon and senator Manny Pacquiao, who has declared that he will run for president in next year’s elections, still ranked second with a declared net worth of ₱3.18 billion.
Senator Leila de Lima, who has been detained since 2017 due to drug-related charges that she calls fabricated, remained the poorest, with a net worth of ₱9.5 million.
