
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 15) — A resident was killed and around 50 families were left homeless after fire engulfed a residential community in Valenzuela Compound in Barangay Sto. Niño, Parañaque City early Wednesday, the Bureau of Fire Protection said.
It was initially reported that the fire that started around 1 a.m. reached 3rd alarm. But based on BFP’s latest assessment, it only reached 2nd alarm at 1:25 a.m.
The fire was declared out at 2:52 a.m.
The 87-year-old female victim was identified as Lolita Matadling who was earlier reported to be missing while the fire was razing their home.
Twenty houses were destroyed due to the incident.
Authorities are still assessing the total cost of the damage and what caused the fire.
