
“The continued implementation of proactive measures and restrictions must be put in place to slow down the surge in COVID-19 cases, stop further spread of variants, buy time for the health system to cope, and to protect more lives,” the resolution read.
Ilocos Norte was supposed to shift to general community quarantine with heightened restrictions. However, the Inter-Agency Task Force Resolution No. 136-G stated that the province will remain under MECQ “upon the appeal of the local government.”
The latest community quarantine classifications for the rest of the country will be effective Sept. 8.
As of Sept. 6, Ilocos Norte tallied 27 new COVID-19 cases, bringing total cases to 16,039. Of the total, 2,498 are active cases.
