Terrafirma blazes to 3-0 in PBA restart, edges Blackwater

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 5) – The Terrafirma Dyip remained unscathed in three games since the restart of the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup after a late scoring blitz against Blackwater Bossing, 96-84, Sunday at the Don Honorio Ventura State University Gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.

Five Terrafirma players scored in double digits, led by Aldrech Ramos with a double-double effort of 17 points and 11 rebounds and shooting seven out of his 11 field goals (63%).

Reden Celda also had a productive game with 15 points, six boards, and four assists while Andreas Cahilig registered double-double norms of 12 markers and 11 rebounds to help improve the Dyip’s slate to 3-4.

The two teams had a nip-and-tuck affair in the first three quarters of the match, with Blackwater getting the lead but Terrafirma responding in the next possessions.

After a 65-all deadlock at the end of the third quarter, the Dyip started to pull away as Ramos, Cahilig, and Matt Ganuelas-Rosser initiated the scoring run.

Terrafirma’s defensive plays caused Blackwater to score only three points in the middle of the fourth quarter, with the Dyip erecting its biggest margin at 91-73 in the 3:14 mark.

Dyip guard Juami Tiongson, who tallied career-high and franchise-best numbers in their two big wins against league powerhouse San Miguel Beermen and defending champions Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, played off the bench this time with 10 points and three assists.

“He’s (Tiongson) marked already, they will try to stop him. Some other guys there can contribute more to the team like Reden (Celda). I told them, we have to be team,” said Terrafirma head coach Johnedel Cardel.

Mike Tolomia led Blackwater with 14 points while Simon Enciso notched 13 points as the Bossing dropped their seventh straight game and stay still winless in the Philippine Cup.
