Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 2) – Professional boxer “Prince” Albert Pagara was arrested by police Wednesday night for alleged sexual harassment of a 14-year-old girl in Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City.
Pagara denied the accusations against him. He did not resist arrest, according to Police Maj. Jose Angelo Acupinpin, chief of Pardo Police Station.
Acupinpin said barangay officials were the first to apprehend the 27-year-old boxer and turned him over to the police the same day. Relatives of the victim were also present at the police station to lodge the complaint.
He added that medical and physical examinations of the minor will form part of the complaint against the boxer.
Pagara was once considered as one of the country’s promising fighters, winning 33 bouts in his career. He got a taste of his first defeat in 2016 after losing his WBO Inter-Continental super bantamweight belt to Mexican boxer Cesar Juarez.
He has since been fighting in small card events, with a seven-fight win streak. Pagara was also a member of the now defunct ALA Boxing Gym stable based in Cebu City.
