Kristina Knott taken to medical station after Olympic run

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 2) – Sprinter Kristina Knott was rushed to the medical station after she crossed the finish line of the Tokyo Olympics women’s 200-meter preliminary heat, Monday at the Japan National Stadium.

Edward Kho, director for marketing and communications of the Philippine Track and Field Association (PATAFA), told CNN Philippines that Knott vomited and felt nauseated right after she finished her run.

“The doctor’s assessment was heat exhaustion because of her extended exposure to the heat here in Tokyo,” Kho said.

He also said that before the gunstart, Knott felt her “body temperature shot up towards her head.”

“The back of her neck and her ears felt relatively hot. And she was feeling woozy already,” the PATAFA official added.

The 25-year-old trackster is now resting in her room.

Knott finished last in Heat 7 of the women’s 200-meter qualifying heats with a time of 23.80 seconds. She failed to advance in the semifinals.
