PLDT carves first win in PVL over Perlas

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 1) – The PLDT Fibr Power Hitters clinched their first win in seven games by drubbing Perlas Spikers in three sets, 25-22, 25-20, 25-21, in the 2021 PVL Open Conference on Sunday at the PCV Socio-Civic and Cultural Center in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.

The already eliminated PLDT squad relied on Isa Molde and Jorelle Singh, who both chipped in 14 and 11 points apiece respectively. Libero Alyssa Eroa also had an exceptional game with 22 excellent digs and nine receptions.

The Power Hitters were determined to get their coveted win in the first two sets as they struck with corner attacks and brilliant defensive plays.

Perlas attempted to salvage a set in the third frame when Nicole Tiamzon and Cherry Rose Nunag scored consecutive hits to cut their deficit to two points, 18-20.

But Molde and Singh delivered for the Power Hitters down the stretch for their first win of the season.

Nunag was the top scorer for Perlas with 14 points, as the team dropped to a 1-4 record and is now in danger of being shut out of Final Four contention.
