Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 30) — The Philippine government has extended the ban on travelers from 10 countries up to August 15 to control the transmission of the COVID-19 Delta variant.
Harry Roque, spokesperson of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, announced on Friday that travel restrictions are still in place for the following countries:
– India
– Pakistan
– Nepal
– Sri Lanka
– Bangladesh
– Oman
– United Arab Emirates
– Indonesia
– Malaysia
– Thailand
The ban was supposed to lapse on July 31, but the government decided to extend the travel restrictions due to the threat of the highly transmissible Delta variant.
The country has recorded a total of 216 Delta cases, after detecting 97 more cases of the feared variant on Thursday.
