Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 28) – The country administered 659,029 COVID-19 shots on Tuesday to breach the target of 500,000 doses a day.

This is the highest output since the vaccine rollout began in March, the National Task Force Against COVID-19 said Wednesday.

“We applaud our implementing units from the local government and the private sector for remaining committed to carrying our their vaccination rollout as quickly and efficiently as possible, and ultimately, protecting as many people as we can against the disease, NTF chief implementer and Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. said in a statement.

As of July 27, a total of 18,174,405 doses have already been administered. Around 11.3 million people have received their first dose while more than 6.8 million are now fully vaccinated, according to the task force.

Galvez said they are determined to pursue the daily vaccination output of at least 500,000 shots until the end of August or early September.

The country aims to vaccinate 750,000 people daily in the fourth quarter in hopes of achieving herd immunity by the end of the year.
