
The losses were incurred by 22,516 farmers in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region and Western Visayas, the DA’s Risk Reduction and Management Operations Center said Wednesday.
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 28) — The estimated agriculture damage caused by the southwest monsoon, enhanced by Typhoon Fabian (international name: In-Fa), has reached ₱533.54 million as of July 28, according to the Department of Agriculture.
Affected commodities include rice, corn, high-value crops and livestock. The DA has standby funds for those affected by the heavy rains, the center added.
There is no reported damage on road networks and bridges in Cordillera, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon and Mimaropa that can affect the movement of food supply.
Casualties
On July 23, a 39-year-old died in a vehicular accident caused by a fallen tree in Baguio City, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
The NDRRMC said Wednesday it is validating three more reports of death due to the monsoon.
The disaster management agency also said 254,918 individuals in Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Cordillera and Metro Manila were affected by the monsoon.
