PH indoor volleyball teams start bubble training on July 1

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 28) – The Philippine men’s and women’s indoor volleyball teams will start their bubble training in Ilocos Norte on July 1, Philippine National Volleyball Federation President Tats Suzara said.

“We are very thankful that Ilocos Norte has agreed to adopt our national athletes who will be training in a bubble environment,” Suzara said.

Suzara bared last June 15 they are eyeing the Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena in Laoag City and the Bacarra Gym in Bacarra town as practice venues.

The national volleyball squads are expected to prepare for their respective Asian Volleyball Confederation tournaments and the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam.

Suzara denied the existence of a training camp for Filipino spikers in Baguio City after reports surfaced that some volleyball players tested positive for COVID-19.

Philippine Sports Commission Chief of Staff Marc Velasco also confirmed that there are no national athletes training in Baguio City at present.

The women’s team will compete on home soil in the AVC Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship scheduled from Aug. 29 to Sept. 5 in Clark, Pampanga.

On the other hand, their male counterparts will participate in the AVC Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship slated in Chiba, Japan in September. They are also looking for a golden finish in the Vietnam SEA Games after winning the silver in the 2019 edition in Manila.
