Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 26) — Two policemen were killed while another was wounded in a shooting at the Manila Police District (MPD) Headquarters Friday night.
The dead include the suspect, Executive Master Sergeant Reynante Dipasupil. The MPD said Dipasupil came to their office drunk at 11:30 p.m. and indiscriminately fired his gun.
Responding officers exchanged gunfire with Dipasupil, who shot and wounded Staff Sergeant Reynaldo Cordova.
While attempting to escape, Dipasupil engaged Master Sergeant Romeo Cantal and Staff Sergeant Ferdinand Francia in a shootout. The MPD said Dipasupil and Cantal were both shot and later died in hospital.
MPD Chief Brigadier General Leo Francisco has ordered an investigation on the incident, and has placed the headquarters under full alert status. He also advised all station commanders to monitor the mental health of their personnel, the MPD said.
