US President Joe Biden on Friday condoled with Filipinos, while underscoring the success of economic reforms under the Aquino administration from 2010 to 2016.
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 24) — International tributes poured in as nations paid their respects to former president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, who passed away Thursday morning.
US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires John Law and British Ambassador to the Philippines Daniel Pruce offered their condolences to Aquino’s family and loved ones.
“President Aquino’s steadfast commitment to advancing peace, upholding the rule of law, and driving economic growth for all Filipinos, while taking bold steps to promote the rules-based international order, leaves a remarkable legacy at home and abroad that will endure for years to come,” Biden said in a statement.
“We are saddened by President Aquino’s passing and will always be thankful for our partnership,” Law said in a tweet.
The German Embassy in Manila remembered Aquino’s visit to the European country in 2014 as an “important milestone in intensifying German-Philippine relations.”
The European Union in the Philippines called the late president a “friend,” and recalled his visit to Brussels in Belgium in 2014.
Biden served as Barack Obama’s vice president during Aquino’s six-year term.

French Ambassador Michèle Boccoz said she was “deeply saddened” by Aquino’s death.

Australian Ambassador Steven Robinson also paid tribute to Aquino while remembering his visit to Australia in 2012, and “the legacy of partnership and bayanihan” the two shared.
Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said Aquino’s passing was a loss to the Philippines. He recalled the time they met in Singapore in 2014.
