PH poomsae team bags 10 medals in Asian tilt

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 15) – The Philippine national poomsae team won a total of 10 medals in the 24th Asian Taekwondo Championships held Monday at the Nouhad Naufal Indoor Stadium in Beirut, Lebanon.

The Filipino poomsae bets finished third overall in the medal table with two golds, three silvers, and five bronzes as all of them won a medal in the Asian tilt’s 10 events.

Filipino bets Juvenile Crisostomo and Darius Venerable, the two gold medalists for the Philippine team, were named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player in their respective gender.

Venerable ruled the men’s individual freestyle over 17 event, while Crisostomo was part of the gold medal-winning quintet in the mixed team freestyle event over 17 category. She was joined by Janna Oliva, Jeordan Dominguez, Justin Macario, and Marvin Mori.

Crisostomo and Venerable teamed up in the mixed pair over 17 category, where they took home the silver medal.

Oliva won the silver in the women’s individual freestyle over 17 event, while June Ninobla plucked the country’s third silver medal in the men’s individual under 60 category.

Jocel Lyn Ninobla bagged two bronzes in the women’s individual under 30 and women’s team under 30 event with Rinna Babanto and Aidaine Laxa.

Babanto also took home a bronze medal in the mixed pair under 30 event, with Patrick King Perez.

Perez, Rodolfo Reyes Jr., and Joaquin Tuzon secured the bronze in men’s team under 30 category. Reyes also recorded a bronze medal finish in the men’s individual under 30 event.

Filipino taekwondo bets led by Pauline Lopez, Kirstie Alora, and Arven Alcantara will begin their campaign in the Asian taekwondo tilt on Wednesday.
