
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 8) — A magnitude-5.3 earthquake on Tuesday struck waters off the coast of Burgos town in Surigao del Norte, the government seismology agency said.
The quake was recorded at 5:41 a.m., the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said in its bulletin. Intensity IV, characterized by moderately strong shaking, was felt in Dapa, Surigao del Norte, it added.
Phivolcs said it is not expecting damage but added aftershocks could occur.
It said the tremor was tectonic in origin or there was a movement in the Earth’s crust.
