Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 18) – A state-of-the-art sports hub for Philippine national athletic teams is set to rise soon in Bagac, Bataan.
The Philippine Sports Training Center will feature administrative, sports science, and medical facilities, as well as dormitories for athletes and coaches. Sports amenities for 39 Olympic and non-Olympic sports will also be available.
Philippine Sports Commission chairman William “Butch” Ramirez formally received on Tuesday the deed of donation from Bataan Governor Abet Garcia for the land where the new athletic hub will be constructed.
The Bataan provincial government donated six lots with an estimated total area of 250,000 square meters to the PSC.
“I am so happy and excited on this newly forged partnership with the provincial government of Bataan. This will give our national athletes a new home as they continue to bring pride and honor to our country,” said Ramirez during the ceremonial signing and turnover rites.
The PSTC was institutionalized through Republic Act No. 11214, signed into law by President Rodrigo Duterte on February 2019.
