Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 18)— Three House lawmakers want to add dentists and medical technologists to the list of those allowed by law to administer COVID-19 vaccines.

“[The bill aims to] add additional medical personnel as vaccinators to help in the inoculation and effective and efficient rollout of the COVID-19 vaccines in the country,” read the explanatory note to House Bill 9354 authored by Reps. Kit Belmonte (Quezon City), Stella Quimbo (Marikina City) and Helen Tan (Quezon City).

Aside from doctors and other medical professionals, Republic Act 11525, or the COVID-19 vaccination program, allows pharmacists and midwives trained by the Health department to administer COVID-19 vaccines.

Latest government data show over 3.1 million vaccine doses were rolled out nationwide.
