PAGASA: Crising weakens into LPA

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 14) — Tropical Depression Crising weakened into a low pressure area at 8 a.m. on Friday, the state weather bureau said.

In its 11 a.m. bulletin, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration noted that Crising will continue to move westward or northwestward and emerge over the Sulu Sea in the next six to 12 hours.

As of 10:00 a.m., the center of the low pressure area was in the vicinity of Piagapo, Lanao del Sur, PAGASA added.

While all tropical cyclone wind signals have been lifted, the bureau said rain will persist in the following areas, which may experience light to heavy rainfall:

– Zamboanga Peninsula

– Davao Oriental

– Davao de Oro

– Davao del Norte

– Davao City

– Davao del Sur

– Cotabato

– Maguindanao

– Bukidnon

– Lanao del Norte

– Lanao del Sur

– Misamis Occidental

The bureau still warned of isolated flash floods and rain-induced landslides in affected provinces, especially in high-risk areas.

“Adjacent or nearby areas may also experience flooding in the absence of such rainfall occurrence due to surface runoff or swelling of river channels,” PAGASA added.

Crising made landfall in Baganga, Davao Oriental on Thursday night.
