James de los Santos keeps win streak in e-karate meets

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 8) – Filipino karateka James de los Santos continued his winning streak in virtual karate tournaments as he recently notched his 16th gold medal.

De Los Santos, who is still the e-kata world no. 1, defeated Alfredo Bustamante in the finals of the Budva Winner-Adria Cup #3 eTournament last May 5.

Before winning the Budva Winner-Adria Cup, the 31-year-old karateka again downed familiar opponent Matias Moreno-Domont of Switzerland in the finals of the third leg of the SportData eTournament World Series.

He outlasted karate bets from Norway, Wales, England, and Ireland before engaging in another finals showdown with Moreno-Domont.

De Los Santos now has 52 golds since joining e-kata tournaments during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Filipino maintains his lead in the world rankings with 26,695 points. He is followed by Moreno-Domont with 14,415 points and Bustamante with 10,675 points.
