7,255 new COVID-19 cases reported in PH – DOH

The daily positivity rate, or the ratio of infected patients among those tested, is at 15.7% out of the 44,107 tests conducted as of May 1.

That raised nationwide cases to 1,062,225, of which 69,466 are active cases, the DOH said. It added that 94.7% are mild cases, 1.8% are asymptomatic, 1.1% are in critical condition, 1.4% are severe cases, and 0.94% are experiencing moderate symptoms.

Meanwhile, the number of fatalities reached 17,525 after 94 more patients died. The DOH noted that 51 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

The DOH also said that 9,124 more patients recovered, bringing the total number of COVID-19 survivors to 975,234. It added that 13 duplicates were removed from the total case count, wherein nine are recoveries.

All laboratories were operational on May 1, while 15 laboratories were not able to submit their date to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 3) – The country reported 7,255 new COVID-19 infections on Monday, the Department of Health said in its latest bulletin.

Also, the Department of Foreign Affairs reported 10 new COVID-19 cases among overseas Filipinos. There are now 18,390 Filipinos infected with the virus in 94 countries.

The DFA also reported that the number of COVID-19 survivors among Filipinos abroad reached 11,277 after three more recovered. It added that the number of fatalities remain at 1,147.

Earlier in the day, Health Undersecretary Rosario Vergeire said the DOH has seen a slow decrease in new COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila in the past two weeks.

The OCTA Research Group on Monday also said the daily COVID-19 cases in the capital region is projected to drop from an average of 3,144 to 2,800 starting next week.
