Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 27) — The Office of Vice President Leni Robredo is in need of more volunteers, including doctors, for its teleconsultation program amid the volume of requests daily.

“We need more volunteer doctors – GPs (general practitioners), and consultants. We need all specialization but need more psychiatrists, surgeons, neurologists, allergologists, gastroenterologists, endocrinologists, cardiologists. We also need psychologists,” Robredo said Monday in a statement, referring to her office’s Bayanihan E-Konsulta. The program offers free medical consultations remotely.

Volunteer doctors may sign up here.

Robredo said the program is also in need of non-medical staff to help in the following:

– chat support

– triaging and tagging, who will work with the program’s full-time doctors

– monitoring of COVID-19 patients by telephone

– call bridging agents

– tech support

Volunteers may register through this online form.

Robredo said they received 25,494 consultation requests on April 7 until April 23.

So far, the program has 642 volunteer doctors and 1,974 non-medical volunteers, the vice president said, adding 87 OVP staff are involved in daily operations.

Bayanihan E-Konsulta provides free medical consultations to non-emergency cases in Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, and Bulacan, as these areas, also known as NCR Plus, are under strict mobility restrictions due to the surge in infections.
