Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 26) – The Gilas Pilipinas 3×3 squad can further lay out its strategy better as the International Basketball Federation, or FIBA, released on Monday the schedule of the 3×3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Graz, Austria.
The Philippine national 3×3 team competing in Graz is composed of Philippine Basketball Association players Joshua Munzon, Alvin Pasaol, CJ Perez, and Moala Tautuaa.
The Philippines is one of the countries in Pool C of the Olympic qualifiers along with Qatar, France, Slovenia, and Dominican Republic.
The world no. 24 Filipinos will face world no. 36 Qataris (7:55 p.m. Philippine time) and world no. 22 Slovenians (9:35 p.m. Philippine time) on May 26, Wednesday.
Gilas will close their pool play campaign by squaring off with world no. 37 Dominican Republic (5:50 p.m. Philippine time) and world no. 3 France (7:55 p.m. Philippine time) on May 28, Friday.
The knockout rounds will be played on May 30, Saturday, where teams will contest the three Olympic tickets at stake. 3×3 basketball will make its debut in this year’s Summer Olympics edition at Tokyo, Japan.
The PBA announced last week that Munzon, Pasaol, Perez, and Tautuaa will start their bubble training this week in preparation for the FIBA 3×3 Olympic qualifiers.
