Tacloban City (CNN Philippines, April 26) — A community pantry was opened in Tacloban City to celebrate the 26th birthday of actor Daniel Padilla.
Named “Sangkay Community Pantry,” it was set up in Pope Francis Village, a permanent relocation site for Typhoon Yolanda victims.
It was organized by the friend of the actor’s mother, Karla Estrada, who is a Taclobanon.
At least 500 residents of Pope Francis village are expected to benefit from the free vegetables and grocery items.
The organizers hope to replicate similar community pantries in other areas.
