Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 23) – Fan favorite Barangay Ginebra San Miguel will sport new uniforms as they seek to defend their All-Filipino Cup title once the Philippine Basketball Association opens its 46th season.
In a virtual launch on Thursday, the San Miguel Corporation-owned franchise unveiled its special “One Ginebra Nation” jersey that lets basketball fans collect new merchandise while giving back at the same time.
The words “One Ginebra Nation” can be found in front, while the tagline “Bagong Tapang” is printed at the back of the jersey.
The jerseys unveiled during the event featured Scottie Thompson (6), Stanley Pringle (11), Japeth Aguilar (25), L.A. Tenorio (5), and Mark Caguioa (47).
“This new jersey that we have right now, the One Ginebra Nation, is a very unique jersey with a very classic design. Being one of the team’s veterans, I am always looking forward to the new jerseys and of course to continue our winning tradition,” said Tenorio, who won the Finals Most Valuable Player award in Ginebra’s conquest of the Philippine Cup title last year.
Coinciding with the new jersey launch, Ginebra also introduced its “Bagong Tapang sa One Ginebra Nation Jersey and Cap Collection” promo.
The promo is in line with Ginebra San Miguel’s latest “Bagong Tapang” campaign which highlights Filipinos’ courage and strength to overcome the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
From May 1 to June 30, 2021, fans can get their hands on the limited-edition merchandise for only ₱100 for the One Ginebra Nation jersey or ₱150 for the One Ginebra Nation cap.
Fans can also grab the new Ginebra jersey and cap by purchasing six seals or caps of any combination of Ginebra San Miguel, GSM Blue, GSM Blue Flavors, Ginebra San Miguel Premium Gin and Primera Light Brandy.
For every jersey or cap that they redeem, basketball fans and consumers will be able to donate to non-profit organization Gawad Kalinga’s Barangay Walang Iwanan program that supports farmers in Sariaya, Quezon, and fishermen in Barangay Bagumbayan, Pililla, Rizal.
“We hope to encourage Gin Kings fans and our consumers to ‘put on’ a Bagong Tapang kind of courage and to wear this kind of Bagong Tapang for others to see and emulate,” said Noli Macalalag, general manager of Ginebra San Miguel Inc.
The new Ginebra jerseys and caps are available for redemption at selected Puregold and other redemption outlets nationwide. To confirm the merchandise’s authenticity, an authentication patch can be found on the lower left part of the jersey, while an authentication sticker is attached to the cap.
