Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 19) – The Games and Amusements Board (GAB) ordered on Sunday the suspension of the Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup’s Mindanao leg.

“We are in the process of investigation and seriously looking into the allegations of wrong doing,” the regulatory agency said in a statement.

GAB added it is putting the new league under “re-evaluation” and will continue to observe its Visayas leg.

“GAB is reviewing the official reports of its field officers in the bubble and that of the League to determine the administrative liability of the licensees as well as the possibility of proceeding with criminal charges if warranted by the circumstances,” the GAB said.

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas supported GAB’s ongoing investigation as it condemned the misconduct discovered in the April 14 game between SIquijor Mystics and ARQ-Lapu Lapu City Heroes.

“The play of both teams according to the merits of the game was obviously sorely lacking as seen by the viewing public in via live-streaming,” the country’s national basketball federation said in a statement.

The GAB expelled the Siquijor team and suspended some Lapu-Lapu City players a day after their match, which got “postponed” due to power outage according to the league’s press release.

The game went viral after a number of questionable plays, which included botched open lay-ups and players intentionally missing free throws.
