Only two lifters competed in the division, with India’s Jhilli Dalabehera winning all the three gold medals at stake.
Diaz, the cousin of 2016 Rio Olympics silver medalist Hidilyn, settled only for 60kg in the snatch lift as she failed to hurdle the 65 and 66kg lifts. Dalabehera obtained a better score after managing a 69kg lift.
In the clean and jerk, Diaz comfortably lifted the 75kg in her first attempt but did not complete the 80kg lift. Dalabehera successfully completed the 83 and 88kg lifts to clinch the gold again in the division.
Dalabehera edged Diaz in the final score, 157-135, to complete a sweep on the head-to-head battle in the women’s 45kg division.
Two other Filipinos competed in other events of the Asian weightlifting tilt.
In Group B of the men’s 61kg division, Cebuano lifter John Fabuar Ceniza placed third after earning a total of 245 points as he lifted 110kg in the snatch and 135kg in the clean and jerk. Kazakhstan’s Alexey Drozdov topped the bracket with 278 points as he advanced to the event final.
On Saturday, Boholano weightlifter Eileen Rose Perez finished last in a field of 10 in the women’s 49kg division. She accumulated a total score of 165 points, after failing to clear the 76kg snatch lift and 96kg in the clean and jerk. Two Chinese lifters won the gold and silver medals in the event while Indonesia took home the bronze.
