Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 13) — Vice President Leni Robredo dedicated on Monday her “People of the Year” award to her staff, donors, and volunteers who work alongside her in fulfilling her office’s advocacy projects.
Robredo and the Office of the Vice President were recognized by magazine PeopleAsia for reaching out to communities and forging ties with the private sectors for their COVID-19 response.
“Karangalan kong tanggapin ang award na ito, pero ang totoo, hindi talaga ito para sa akin, kundi para sa lahat ng tao na nagtiwala, at patuloy na nagtitiwala sa trabahong ginagawa at mga adbokasiyang isinusulong namin sa Office of the Vice President,” Robredo said during the virtual awarding ceremony.

“From donors to our volunteers, to our hardworking staff na talagang above and beyond ang serbisyo — napapatunayan natin na walang naglalakbay o nagtatagumpay nang mag-isa,” she added.

Since the pandemic started, Robredo and the OVP launched different projects to help different sectors — from transporting healthcare workers, to creating an online platform for displaced workers and a learning hub for students, deploying the mobile ‘Swab Cab” for free coronavirus testing, and holding a free teleconsulting platform for COVID-19 patients.
“Rest assured that I and the rest of my team at the OVP will continue to work hard alongside you in pursuit of a better normal for all,” Robredo said.
Other People of the Year awardees were Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez, Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla and 1-PACMAN Rep. Mikee Romero. Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto was voted as the “People’s Choice Awardee” for his COVID-19 response.
PeopleAsia’s People of the Year award recognizes “extraordinary people in extraordinary times.“
