Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 29) — With the National Capital Region and nearby provinces placed under enhanced community quarantine from March 29 to April 4, the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) has ordered all national teams to break their training camps.

“In this light, all National Sports Associations are hereby advised that all indoor and outdoor training of all national team members within the affected areas are hereby temporarily suspended. The NSAs are encouraged to practice on-line individual training and no group activities shall be conducted,” the PSC said in a statement.

Gilas Pilipinas, together with the national taekwondo and boxing teams, has been training inside the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna preparing for their respective competitions.

Gilas is gearing up for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament and the final window of the FIBA Asia Cup.

Movement in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal is limited due to the surge in COVID-19 cases.

As of posting time, there are over 115,000 active COVID-19 cases in the country.
