
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 15) – Filipino karateka James de los Santos continues his dominance in the e-kata scene after bagging another pair of gold medals.
De Los Santos won his eighth gold medal of the year on Saturday after besting Romania’s Andrei Nedelcu, 24.3-24, in the finals of the second leg of the SportData eTournament World Series.
The Filipino e-kata sensation defeated bets from Sweden, Germany, Norway, and South Africa to advance into the tournament finals.
De Los Santos set a new personal record on Monday after scoring 27.44 points in his victory against Swedish rival Matias Moreno-Domont to take home the Katana Intercontinental League #2 title.
He edged karatekas from France, United States, and England in the early stages of the virtual tournament.
With the twin victories, De Los Santos maintains his hold as the world’s best e-kata athlete with a total of 21,435 points. Moreno-Domont of Switzerland is at far second with 10,875 points, while Silvio Cerone-Biogioni of South Africa followed with 9,090 points.
