Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 12) — Metro Manila’s water concessionaires will implement rate adjustments effective April 1, the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System-Regulatory Office said Thursday.
In a statement, the MWSS said the changes were brought about by foreign currency differential adjustment (FCDA) for the second quarter.
The FCDA is a tariff mechanism for foreign currency-denominated loans to fund the expansion and improvement of water and sewerage services.
Manila Water’s FCDA resulted in a rate increase. Customers of the East Zone concessionaire consuming 10 cubic meters per month on average or less are expected to pay ₱0.27 more in their monthly bills. Those consuming an average of 20 cubic meters and 30 cubic meters per month may see their bills go up by ₱0.60 and ₱1.22 respectively.
The FCDA of Maynilad, on the other hand, resulted in a downward adjustment. Customers in the West Zone consuming 10 cubic meters on average monthly or less can expect bills to go down by ₱0.03 and ₱0.10 for those spending 20 cubic meters. Meanwhile, those using up 30 cubic meters per month may see a decline of ₱0.20 in their monthly bills in the second quarter.
