Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 11) – The Food and Drug Administration has issued a public advisory on certain COVID-19 test kits that did not meet their declared product specificity and sensitivity after the performance validation by the Research Institute of Tropical Medicine.
The FDA advised the public to be cautious in the purchase and use of the said test kits pending initiation of product recall proceedings.
The FDA recently reiterated that online selling of FDA-certified test kits for COVID-19 are strictly prohibited as they are only intended for medical professional use.
