Fire hits residential area in Muntinlupa

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 17) — Fire razed around a hundred houses and establishments in Brgy. Alabang, Muntinlupa on Sunday morning.

According to an initial report of the Bureau of Fire Protection, the fire along 341 National Road, Pulong Bisaya broke out and immediately reached first alarm at 8:20 a.m., then at second alarm five minutes after. By 9:08 a.m., it has reached fourth alarm.

The fire reportedly started in the bedroom ceiling at the second floor of one of the houses. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the incident.

It was declared under control at 10:05 a.m. and was put out an hour later. No casualties and injuries were reported but damage was estimated at about ₱1 million.

Over 150 families or 450 individuals were reportedly affected.

At least 22 BFP personnel, 25 fire volunteers, and 18 personnel from the city government responded to the incident.
