Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 16) – The Philippines earned another distinction from international travel website Big 7 Travel after it was named the world’s second most “Instagrammable” place for 2021.
Big 7 Travel noted the country’s natural wonders and vibrant culture and history in placing it second in the list, which gathered 50 places around the world.
“From the bustling capital of Manila complete with colorful colonial streets to the absolute oasis of Boracay, the gram opportunities here are endless,” it said in its article.
The Department of Tourism thanked the international travel website for including the Philippines in the list.
“The Department of Tourism celebrates the inclusion of the Philippines in the Most Instagrammable Places in the World list of the renowned travel website Big 7 Travel for the year 2021,” said in a statement.
The Philippines is among the three Asian places in the Top 10 list, along with top choice Tokyo, Japan and sixth-ranked Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Paris, France came in at third while New York City finished fourth. Completing the Top 10 are fifth placer Istanbul, Turkey, seventh placer Havana, Cuba, eighth-ranked Sydney, Australia, ninth-ranked London, United Kingdom, and tenth placer Chicago, Illinois.
Big 7 Travel came up with the list using a scoring system that analyzed the number of hashtags per destination, survey results from their social audience, and input from their editorial team.
The international travel website feted Palawan and Boracay last October as part of the 50 most beautiful places in the world tally. Palawan was ranked eighth, while Boracay Island landed 18th in the list.
