Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 31) — Authorities recovered ₱13.6 million in shabu in a drug bust in Tarlac on Thursday, a report from the Philippine National Police said.
The report said the foiled drug deal involved the West African Drug Syndicate.
Gabriel Onyechefula, a Nigerian national, was killed after he figured in an armed confrontation with the arresting officers. PNP Drug Enforcement Group PBGen Ronald Lee said Onyechefula was the subject of the operation.
Lee said Onyechefula pulled out a gun during the bust, prompting the police to defend themselves.
According to Lee, the WADS is a transnational drug syndicate responsible for the trafficking of shabu and cocaine into the country that also recruits Filipinos to become drug mules.
