Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 7) — A low-pressure area (LPA) west of Sorsogon has developed into Tropical Depression Tonyo, the state weather bureau said Saturday night.

According to its 8 pm. weather bulletin, PAGASA said Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is expected to be raised over areas near the province or along the forecast track.

Severe weather bulletins will also be issued starting 11 p.m. to monitor the movement of TD Tonyo.

PAGASA earlier warned against sea travel near the coasts of northern Quezon and Camarines Norte, the northern seaboard of Camarines Sur, the northern and eastern seaboards of Catanduanes, and the eastern seaboards of Albay (including Rapu-Rapu Islands), Sorsogon, Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, and Siargao due to rough waters.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Saturday reminded the regional DRRMCs to ensure that preparedness measures are being implemented.
