Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 9) — The head of the Philippine National Police’s Custodial Service Unit has been relieved from his post after former Ozamiz Vice Mayor and detainee Nova Parojinog slapped him with a sexual assault complaint.
PNP spokesperson Ysmael Yu confirmed on Friday that Lt. Col. Jigger Noceda was immediately placed under restrictive custody after the PNP Women’s and Child Protection Center filed a case against the police official at the Quezon City Prosecutors Officer on Oct. 7 for alleged attempted rape, acts of lasciviousness, violation of safe spaces, and unjust vexation.
Parojinog, a member of a powerful political clan, has been detained at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame since 2017 for drug and illegal possession of firearms charges. She was transferred to a regular jail facility in March after a local court order.
The Parojinog patriarch, Reynaldo Sr., was Ozamiz City mayor when he and 14 other people were killed in a police operation in Misamis Occidental in 2017. Police have tagged the Parojinog family as the source of illegal drugs in the city, with President Rodrigo Duterte tagging Nova and her father as among the so-called narco politicians operating in Mindanao.
