Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 30) — The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority said it will be providing learners with free personal protective equipment for their face-to-face trainings.
TESDA spokesperson Florencio Sunico told CNN Philippines’ Newsroom Ngayon that this is part of the agency’s health protocols to ensure the safety of learners.
Aside from this, Sunico said load allowance will also be given to learners.
To further ensure safety, TESDA is now requiring all learners to take its module on COVID-19 preventive measures, which is also available for free online. Sunico said this is a requirement prior to taking another program.
As directed by the Inter-Agency Task Force, TESDA is now allowed to resume some of its trainings and assessments. Online technical-vocational training is now permitted in areas under general community quarantine, while face-to-face trainings are allowed in modified general community quarantine at 50 percent capacity.
Programs related to agriculture and fishery have also resumed to help in ensuring food supply in the country.
TESDA opened 68 free short online courses starting April to help Filipinos learn new skills while under community quarantine.
Sunico said that there are currently around 700,000 enrollees under TESDA Online Program, half of which have already completed their courses. He added that enrollment is still open for anyone interested.
