LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra reminded the drivers and operators that only two passengers per row are allowed to ensure the one-meter physical distance rule. Commuters must be seated one seat apart.
The driver must strictly comply with health protocols such as wearing of face masks and gloves. Passengers must pay for the exact fare prior to boarding the vehicle. Non-compliant operators and drivers run the risk of having their franchise suspended or cancelled.
Early this week, a transportation official bared at a hearing of the House Committee on Metro Manila Development that they will first allow UV express units to resume operations, to be followed by traditional jeepneys.
“Papayagan po ang UV express next week pati na rin ang mga traditional PUJs,” Transportation Assistant Secretary Mark De Leon told the lawmakers.

However, no specific date was given as to when jeepneys can resume operations.
Mass transportation had been suspended for more than two months since Luzon and other parts of the country were placed under enhanced community quarantine in mid-March to curb the spread of COVID-19.
In the first phase of reopening mass transport in Metro Manila, only trains, augmentation buses, taxis, Transport Network Vehicle Service like Grab, shuttle services, point-to-point buses and bicycles were allowed to return to roads to ferry passengers since June 1.
Modern jeepneys also resumed operations on June 22 while the operations of provincial buses remain suspended.
