Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 23) – The Senate building is under a “semi-lockdown” after two more employees tested positive for COVID-19, Senate President Vicente Sotto III said Tuesday.
“There are also some hearings and work to be conducted by Senators’ offices, so we cannot declare a total lockdown,” Sotto said in a message to reporters.
He also said that the salaries of employees will not be processed if there is a total lockdown in the building, but noted that they “need not go if they don’t want to.”
Sotto added that everyone exposed to the two infected employees have already undergone 14 days of self-quarantine.
Data from the Senate Medical and Dental Bureau showed that the chamber has 16 cases of coronavirus infections since March. Of this number, 13 have already recovered, two are active cases, and one died.
