Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 22) — La Union is now COVID-19 free, its governor said, after the province’s last patient recovered from the virus.
Governor Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” Ortega III made the announcement on Monday, adding the patient was a 30-year-old male from Naguilian town.
Ortega, however, said it was not a time for complacency and urged people to remain vigilant in the fight against the virus.
As of 4 p.m. on Monday, the Department of Health said there were 30,682 COVID-19 cases in the country.
