Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 21)— Filipinos marked another special day on Sunday, as they took time to pay tribute to dads and all other father figures who have embraced their roles in shaping the younger generation.
With majority of the country still under quarantine, netizens— including celebrities and government officials alike— brought their heartfelt Father’s Day messages this year online.
Here’s a look at some of the local personalities’ Father’s Day tributes for 2020:
“Everything happens so fast! Cherish every moment and love your parents because time is something we can never take back,” actress Kathryn Bernardo wrote on her social media page, as she reminisced moments with her dad when she was younger. “I still have so many dreams for us papa! I promise to make them happen,” she added.
Beauty queens Catriona Gray and Kylie Verzosa— who are both away from their loved ones amid the COVID-19 pandemic— also thanked their respective fathers, as they wished to see their families soon.
Celebrity moms Pauleen Luna-Sotto and Sarah Lahbati shared anecdotes of both their husbands and fathers to mark the occasion.
Anne Curtis and Solenn Heussaff— who both recently became first-time parents themselves— also took time to honor their husbands Erwan Heussaff and Nico Bolzico during this special day.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto took Twitter by storm when he greeted his father— veteran actor and host Vic Sotto— with a photoshopped version of “Crash Landing on You” character Captain Ri.
Frankie Pangilinan, daughter of Senator Kiko and veteran actress-singer Sharon Cuneta, also honored her dad on social media. “I don’t know what we’d do without you,” the 19-year-old wrote.
Actor Alden Richards meanwhile went with a different approach for Father’s Day, as he took his dad on a “drinking challenge.”
Celebrity kids Scarlet Snow Belo and Olivia Manzano Reyes likewise joined in the festivities, as they rolled out photo and song dedications for their fathers on Sunday.
