Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 1) – While everyone is excited to have their haircuts soon, expect that going to your favorite salon or barber shop will never be the same as before.
Salon owner Jing Monis said that the pandemic has brought changes in the hairstyling industry.
“Sa muli naming pagbubukas, maraming bagay na magbabago, na asahan dapat ng mga kliyente namin. We will be strict na sundun ang mga ipinagu-utos sa amin para sa kapakanan ng mamamayan,” he told CNN Philippines’ News.PH.

The Department of Trade and Industry will allow haircut establishments to operate on June 7 at 30-percent capacity in areas under general community quarantine.
With the new normal, gone is the scene of crowded barber shops and salons with customers chit-chatting with one another. Monis, who has several branches of his salon in Metro Manila, said that customers will have to book their appointment in his salon.
“You have to book your appointment ahead of time. Hindi po kami tatanggap ng walk-ins (We will not accept walk-ins),” he said.
“All stations should be cleared, disinfected every after clients. Also, clients will be called and allowed to enter sa oras ng kanilang appointment (at the time of their scheduled appointment).”
He added that his business particularly will only offer haircut throughout the period of general community quarantine until June 15.
Monis added that customers should expect an increase in their haircut service as they will be also providing safety kits for the customers and the employees, which will be part of the service fee.
“We will be issuing safety kits, nandun yung face mask, face shield, gloves, and shoe covers for our clients, meron din po kaming ipo-provide for them (we will also provide for them),” he said.
As his salons reopen next week, Monis said that his employees will have to undergo first rapid testing and the establishments will conduct general cleaning.
“Before kong papasukin yung mga empleyado namin, they have to undergo rapid test just to make sure na lahat ay ligtas at walang karamdaman,” he said.

“We have to do our general cleaning, sanitation lahat ng mga stations (all stations), rearranging the chairs just to make sure that there is social distancing.”
